Tia Small Cuff 5.5
The Tia Small Cuff 5.5 is handmade by a local Native American Cooperative. When you purchase an Etkie bracelet, you are directly empowering a Native American artisan to earn a living wage and preserve their cultural heritage. It is hand-beaded on a traditional Navajo loom and made with high quality seed beads. After the pattern is arranged on the loom, the beads are sewn onto our super soft genuine leather lining. With this bracelet, minor changes in color patterns may occur. This cuff measures 5.5″ long and has an adjustable copper band inside. The cuff is 3/8 of an inch wide.
Etkie: Native American Women’s Artist Cooperative
The word Etkie translates to mean “impact” in Turkish. Sydney, the founder of Etkie started working with a women’s cooperative in Istanbul assisting artisans in creating a profitable platform for their handmade jewelry. The intent was to elevate their profit from meager sales to a reliable living wage.
Returning to New Mexico, she launched Etkie with the same passion to create an ethical for- profit company that provides Native American beaders a platform to create contemporary designs using the artistic traditions passed down from generations. The team of artists earn living wages, impacting the choices they can make for themselves and their families. The artists live on the Navajo Nation where the roads to work are long and the jobs are nonexistent. Many of them elect to work from home on the land and in the community where their roots are deeply planted.
Handcrafted with their heart and soul, no two pieces are exactly alike.
We hope you enjoy wearing your Etkie piece.
