Mediterranean Coral Necklace with Pendant
This breathtaking Mediterranean coral and Candelaria turquoise necklace is handmade by Santo Domingo artist Joseph Coriz. The eight strands of natural Mediterranean coral, ox blood in color, with handmade sterling silver closures, depicts pueblo scenes in a Petroglyph design. The clasp features a beautiful piece of Candelaria turquoise surrounded by the hook and eye closure. The pendant features a fabulous piece of Candelaria turquoise surrounded by beautiful images of pueblo life. Each sterling silver Petroglyph is hand cut and carefully placed on top of the oxidized silver. What an incredible piece of wearable art! The necklace measures 24” inches long with a removable pendant that measures 4” inches long by 2 ½” inches wide.
Native American Artist: Joseph Coriz
From the Santa Domingo Pueblo, Joseph Coriz is a self-taught silversmith and jewelry artist who has been creating traditional Native American jewelry for the nearly two decades.
A draftsman for 23 years, Coriz decided he wanted something different for himself; something meaningful. Through jewelry-making Coriz realized he could tell his grandfather’s story and the story of his heritage.
