Native American Artist: Tommy Jackson
Tommy Jackson was born in Phoenix, Arizona on January 20, 1958. He is a full blooded Navajo from Chinle, Arizona. Tommy learned the art of silversmithing from his mother and father, Martha and Gene Jackson. He works both in gold and silver and has won numerous awards for his beautiful and unique jewelry from the Heard Museum Show in Phoenix, Santa Fe Indian Market and The Museum of Northern Arizona, to name a few. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. In recent years he has been teaching at Wide Ruins Community School. He teaches Navajo children Navajo reading, writing, history and culture and arts and crafts. Many of his former students are now established jewelers themselves.
