Marlowe Katoney Navajo Weaving
This Marlowe Katoney Navajo Weaving is an incredible piece of art entitled “Axis Radius”. The weaving measures 24″ x 36″. The design incorporates a traditional weaving design – the eye dazzler pattern – with intricate, modern artistic additions including a human eye looking at the Eye Dazzler pattern and a break dancer twirling near the storm clouds.
Navajo Artist: Marlowe Katoney
Marlowe Katoney has won awards at the prestigious Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Indian Market, recognizing his innovations and techniques. Katoney studied painting at the University of Arizona and learned the art of weaving from his grandmother, Mary Ann Morris, who taught him the basics but gave him room to develop his own style.
A recipient of the distinguished SARS Fellowship, Katoney says as a pictorial weaver he is constantly challenging himself to be better at his craft.
We at Malouf on the Plaza are honored to represent Katoney and present his stunning work.
